Choosing calming audio

How to use sound gently without making it another demand.

Match the moment

Choose steady, predictable audio for rest and a slightly brighter sound for transitions. Start quietly and let your child’s response guide you.

Keep the parent in control

The grown-up starts, stops, and adjusts playback. Audio should support presence rather than replace comfort, conversation, or judgement.

Stop when it is not helping

Calm audio is optional. If it adds stimulation or frustration, pause it and return to a familiar family cue.

A gentle reminder

Mama Wave resources support everyday family wellbeing. They do not replace medical, developmental, mental-health, crisis, or emergency services.
